Black Friday Sale Campaign

I conceptualised and art-directed the Mighty Ape Black Friday Sale campaign. This campaign channels the energy of classic anime films like Ninja Scroll, featuring the iconic Mighty Ape monkeys in a price-slashing frenzy. This concept seamlessly lends itself to motion graphics, enhancing its engagement factor. My role encompassed shaping the concept, collaborating with the illustrator, and developing campaign graphics for web banners, social posts, and EDMs.

Signage for HQ and Events
I crafted signage for Mighty Ape's headquarters and events. This encompassed wayfinding signage, banners, posters, and eye-catching event signs.

To infuse the branding with a sense of dynamism and playfulness, I incorporated an angled motif throughout the signage, mirroring the organic, hand-drawn aesthetic of the logo. This added a touch of spontaneity and movement, enhancing the overall appeal and making the brand identity feel more approachable and engaging.

These banners showcased some of Mighty Ape's standout features and services. Each banner boasted a primary selling point, accentuated by whimsical monkey illustrations and accompanied by a secondary element underscoring the extensive array of categories Mighty Ape offers.

Consistency was key in my approach, with all signage bearing a unified brand identity characterized by bold blocks of vivid color juxtaposed against sleek shades of grey and white. Typography was carefully selected for its clean lines and impactful presence, with varying font weights strategically employed to draw attention where needed.

Presentations and Catalogues
I am proficient in managing large projects with multiple pages, such as annual reports, presentations, and catalogues. These projects showcase my ability to simplify complex information into visually appealing designs that are easy to follow.

In handling these projects, I blend strategic planning with creative flair to ensure clarity and effectiveness. For instance, in annual reports, I transform numbers into engaging narratives, while presentations are crafted to tell compelling stories using visual aids and clear messaging.

Catalogues provide another platform for my expertise, where I organize content for easy navigation and highlight product features to attract attention. Throughout these endeavors, I maintain consistency in design elements to reinforce the brand identity and ensure a cohesive look and feel.

Packaging
I created a comprehensive packaging suite for Mighty Ape, encompassing shipping boxes, courier bags, totes, and carry bags. The objective was to showcase Mighty Ape’s diverse product range while fostering interactive engagement and feedback. All the while, maintaining Mighty Ape’s unique and playful brand identity.

From the outset, we opted for a streamlined approach by adopting a one-colour palette across all cardboard and paper packaging. This decision was driven by various factors, including budget considerations, environmental concerns, and the need for consistent colour reproduction across different printing methods, substrates, and suppliers.

Embracing a singular black ink posed a creative challenge: how to infuse the packaging with playfulness without sacrificing its sleekness. I tackled this by incorporating whimsical elements such as mischievous monkeys peering from behind corners and cheerful speech bubbles, ensuring that the packaging retained the brand's vibrant personality while maintaining a cohesive and sophisticated appearance.

style guide and assets portal
As the steward of Mighty Ape's visual identity, I undertook the task of creating a comprehensive style guide to ensure consistency and coherence across all brand communications. The Mighty Ape Style Guide served as a blueprint, delineating rules for typography, color usage, logo application, and overall visual aesthetic across diverse platforms and mediums.

Central to this endeavor was establishing a unified visual language that encapsulated Mighty Ape's vibrant and playful brand persona. Through careful selection of typefaces, color palettes, and logo treatments, I crafted guidelines that reflected the essence of the brand while providing flexibility for creative expression.

One of the key aspects of the style guide was the creation and management of downloadable files for essential visual elements such as logos and brand assets. By curating a library of high-quality, accessible files, I ensured that stakeholders across various departments could easily access and utilise the brand assets in their respective projects.

Moreover, I maintained both a printable PDF guide and an online repository in Frontify, offering multiple avenues for users to access and reference the style guidelines. This dual approach facilitated seamless collaboration and adherence to brand standards, both internally and externally.

Beyond dictating design parameters, the Mighty Ape Style Guide served as a tool for brand guardianship, instilling a sense of ownership and pride in maintaining the integrity of the brand identity. Through clear usage guidelines and best practices, I empowered individuals within the organisation to uphold the brand's visual identity consistently, reinforcing Mighty Ape's presence in the marketplace.
